Your Business Could Be Losing Out to Competitors - The Importance of Local SEO Rankings

Through Google’s local business listing platform, Google My Business, you can add images and respond to customer reviews to complete your business profile. All you have to do is register your local business listing through the Google My Business dashboard.

Below is a screenshot of a search I just did for “dentist”. This screenshot includes everything that was on the page without any scrolling.


As you can see, a simple search for “dentist” did not produce any ads on the top of the search results. However, there are businesses listed underneath the map. Google usually lists three to four ads on the top at most and then the map. This means that organic results get shifted down the page and require scrolling to get to.

Therefore, if your business is ranked high on the organic SEO listing but not listed in the results under the map, it will not be displayed on the first half of the page and will, therefore, require scrolling to reach. This does not mean that SEO is now irrelevant. However, it is crucial that you grab a spot on the map results and not rely on traditional SEO alone.

Through Google’s local business listing platform, Google My Business, you can add images and respond to customer reviews to complete your business profile. All you have to do is register your local business listing through the Google My Business dashboard. In order to maximize your digital marketing beyond just organic SEO ranking, you should improve your local SEO rankings so that your business is listed in the map results.
